The Cospudener Lake

On the southern outskirts of Leipzig, surrounded by the alluvial forest of the metropolis, is located on 400 ha large Cospudener lake. The maritime attitude to life and the exquisite transport links have made him a crowd puller of the Leipzig Neuseenland.

Every year, the lake attracts visitors via 600.000 visitors. Numerous cyclists, inline skaters and walkers use the 10,4 km long paved circular route around the lake. As a correspondence project of the EXPO2000, the lake - like the others from a lignite mine - was flooded and given over to its destination.

Since 2012 there has also been a canal connection for paddle boats directly from the center of Leipzig, only 6 km away, to the Cospudener See. Enjoy your day at the lake on the 2 km long sandy beach on the north bank or in the lively Pier1, the diverse port on the east bank of the lake! You can circle the lake in about 45 minutes with a bike from the bike rental.

In June 2020 the lake will be 20 years old and with it Pier1 with its lively harbor.

The Cospudener See is the water leisure destination for hundreds of thousands of guests every year. And that's because of the varied offer and the architectural and landscaping ambience.

Apartments at the pier1 not only have a lake view, but the harbor buildings even stand in the Cospudener Lake.

In front of the three distinctive wood-paneled docks are almost 200 Berths for sailboats up to about 10 m length, whose lines beat in the wind and give an incomparable setting.

Not only in winter is the popular Sauna in the lake, the only sauna with direct lake access.
